“Sports does not build character, they reveal it”
Sports Day is not just about physical fitness; it’s also a celebration of determination, discipline, and dedication. It’s a day when the entire school community comes together to honor the importance of sports and its role in shaping well-rounded individuals.
Concordia Public School, Karakkottai, celebrated its Annual Sports Meet on October 1st, 2024, with great enthusiasm, fun, and frolic. The children eagerly await this event, which is one of the most beloved of the year. The month of October is earmarked for this occasion, as the weather during this time is ideal for extended outdoor games. The school premises buzz with activity as arrangements for the day take time and effort.
The school’s playground was alive with energy, passion, and excitement. The event began with the arrival of Mrs. Jayanthi Ravichandran, Principal of Chola International School, Thanjavur, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The program kicked off with the school assembly. The School SPL, ASPL, and house captains from the four houses—Amazon, Everest, Pacific, and Sahara—participated in the torch relay. The sporting flame, symbolizing unity, spirit, effort, and hard work, was lit by the Chief Guest, who officially declared the sports meet open.
The ‘March Past’ parade was a grand start to the ceremony, with all four houses participating, led by their house captains. The Chief Guest took the salute during the impressive March Past. The monsoon season brings to mind umbrellas, and our little ones evoked the spirit of the monsoon with an adorable umbrella drill. Our young children swayed their colorful umbrellas to the rhythm of the drums, while an energetic dance performance by our students captivated the audience.
The correspondent, Mrs. M. Udhaya Banu, Senior Principal Ms. P. Vijayalakshmi, Principal Mr. R. Arun, and all the teachers were present to boost the morale of the students. The Chief Guest presented medals and certificates to the winners of various sports events. In her address, she highlighted the importance of sports in a child’s life. All staff members were applauded for their significant contributions to the school’s success. The results were announced, and Sahara House claimed the overall championship trophy.
The ceremonial passing of the school and house flags to the Principal, Mr. R. Arun, signified the conclusion of Sports Day. The day showcased the enthralling performances and enthusiastic participation of all students. The school’s history will forever remember the hours of training and dedication put in by both students and teachers.
The National Anthem marked the end of this unforgettable Sports Day.
